Shadow Al THE WILL
I refuse to give up on my dreams. A few years back I was in a position where I needed to get off my albums being that I lost my job, family, finances, and I was literally sick physically to the point where I questioned the longevity of my life. So I took a chance and went out and attempted to push my album out the trunk. I admit I was afraid, afraid of being rejected, and besides how I could an unknown artist possibly get off 1000 albums. However, even with those doubts it was a matter of having and needing to verses just wanting to do it.
I pushed through the obstacles, meeting different types of people through my journey of pushing my album out the trunk. I was surprised at first when people actually started getting my albums. Pretty soon I started to average 15-20 albums a day, now take in account that I spoke to over a hundred people a day to get that many off. I started to realize that the objective was not to get a yes, but to overcome objections and love the rejection.
It became apparent that I truly was a motivational, inspirational artist. It was my faith in God and the drive he provided that allowed me to do what I love for a living. Three years later I got off over 15000 albums out the trunk. I look back and ask myself what have I accomplished? The feeling of knowing that many people actually have my album and put something towards it is a refreshing feeling. The music I make is from the pain and lost and the lessons I have learned from life. We all want to relate to something or someone. I would like to think that people can relate to me just wanting to survive, wanting to do what I love for a living, and wanting my music to have value and to continue to do what I've been doing.
In conclusion I thank God for God for allowing me to overcome my doubts when I felt like giving up. I was raised in Oakland California, and I came to Fresno about ten years ago, and it is in Fresno that I got off most of my albums. No city is perfect, but I am thankful to the people here that has supported My Journey throughout. If I could share anything else with the reader, it would be to put God first, follow your dreams and never give up.
Sincerely,
Shadow Al
